The plans will have an investment outlay of $49m and will have an installed capacity of 25MW, producing electricity from the flow of water through turbines.

Smakraft managing director Rein Husebo was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the projects are estimated to produce 65GWh of power each year.

Husebo further added that investors were interested in the country’s small hydro potential, estimated at 25TWh.

About 4-5TWh of the potential capacity could be installed before the end of the decade, the managing director noted.

"The government has established a system to build this and it’s working well," Husebo said.

With a combined capacity to generate 25MW, the plants will produce electricity from the flow of water through turbines.
The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
