The turbine and generator shafts for power plants are reportedly produced in one piece through open-die forging process. The company produces shafts and rotor shafts which are around 20 meters in length, for use in power plants. The company transforms the red-hot ingots into forgings which the company claims can be matched only by products from Japan.

The company recently produced an ingot weighing 500 metric tons over a 15-hour period at the melt shop in Terni. The finished part is for a Russian rolling mill and is expected to weigh 230 tons.

The company produces shafts for rolling mills and custom-forged containers for the petrochemical and nuclear energy sectors which it supplies to customers throughout the world.

Massimo Calderini, managing director of Societa delle Fucine, said: “We even deliver our products to Japan. The 500-ton ingot highlights the outstanding importance of forging capacity in Terni.”
