The 280MW pipeline includes 10 projects located primarily in California, and currently in various stages of development.

Solar Frontier began construction of the first of the 10 projects, in Kern County, California, while work is scheduled to commence on a 20MW site in the current quarter.

Solar Frontier Americas Development CEO Charles Pimentel said: "Solar Frontier is making substantial investment within the Americas and with this acquisition, we expect to build and deliver some of the highest performing solar energy projects in the industry thanks to Solar Frontier’s state-of-the-art CIS technology."

A subsidiary of Showa Shell Sekiyu, Solar Frontier develops and manufactures CIS (copper, indium, selenium) thin-film solar modules.

The acquisition is part of the company’s global expansion plans.
