The company will engineer, design, construct and commission the fixed-tilt system and will also operate and maintain the system once it is operational.
The PV system is financed through a State of Arizona grant and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Commenting on the development SOLON Corporation vice president and general manager Jared Schoch said that the company has a proven experience in building systems for water and waste water treatment facilities which will help lower the facility’s operating costs.
According to SOLON, once completed the system is expected to reduce Gila Bend’s water treatment facility’s energy usage by 86%.
