The Silver State South facility is being developed by First Solar, and will interconnect with SCE’s proposed Eldorado-Ivanpah 220kV transmission line.
The solar panels will be ground-mounted on about 2,500 acres of public land near Primm, Nevada, and the facility is expected to supply enough electricity to power approximately 80,000 homes.
This power purchase agreement is subject to California Public Utilities Commission approval.
The power project is expected to start generating electricity as early as 2014 and be fully operational by May 2017.
