Under the 15-year contract, Iberdrola will supply clean power from the wind farm, which is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2017.
Iberdrola Renewables vice-president Barrett Stambler said: "We are pleased to support SCE’s renewable energy goals with affordable wind energy from our new project."
Located on nearly 14,000 acres, the power plant will feature up to 67 wind turbines to produce power to serve approximately 40,000 households.
Cleantech San Diego president and CEO Jason Anderson said: "Once completed, Iberdrola Renewables’ Tule Wind Power project will advance our state’s clean energy offerings while contributing to local economic development across the greater San Diego region."
Over its 25 years of operational life, the Tule project is expected to offer tax benefits of more than $39m.
San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation president & CEO Mark Cafferty said: "The Tule project will deliver substantial and long-term local economic benefits to the region, creating jobs for many San Diegans."
