The Ocean Nomad sequence shall consist of wells for Valiant Petroleum, Wintershall (E&P) and Nautical Petroleum. The firm program may be extended with the addition of up to three option wells.
SPD will execute all parts of the program under its well-management business model, in which the contract management services are included alongside engineering and the operations management.
Alex Macdonald, managing director of SPD, said: “In conjunction with our customers and Diamond Offshore we look forward to a challenging and exciting program of work that will extend throughout the summer of 2010.
“We have seen a renewed appetite within the industry for drilling during 2010 and significant interest from a number of operators in securing wells on the Ocean Nomad program. Furthermore, we anticipate that the option wells will be firmed up in the near future.”
