Construction on the project started in December 2013 and the wind farm’s first 100MW phase is expected to be operational by late 2015.

Starwood Energy managing director Himanshu Saxena said: "We look forward to working together with the local communities to make this project a success.

"We are committed to developing such energy infrastructure projects, which will provide clean and competitively priced power for many years to come."

Earlier in 2014, Starwood Energy invested in the 377MW Stephens Ranch wind project, located near Lubbock, Texas.

The Stephens Ranch project, which will be developed in two phases, is expected to be completed by mid-2015.

The company, via its general opportunity funds, Starwood Energy Infrastructure Fund I and II, and other affiliated investment vehicles, manages total equity commitments of over $2bn.
