The comparable numbers for the corresponding quarter in 2011 stood at NOK1751m ($305m) and NOK1583m ($276m) respectively.
Elaborating on the lowered results for the quarter Statkraft president and CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen remarked that the power prices in July and August were lower when compared to several other years.
"In spite of this, Statkraft achieved an acceptable result due to high contract coverage and somewhat higher power production than in the same period last year," added Rynning-Tønnesen.
Hydropower production increased about 10% compared to 2011 while wind power production was also higher.
Overall power production stood at 11.4TWh in the quarter, with an increase of 4% when compared with the third quarter of 2011.
For the first nine months of the year, the production totalled 43.7 TWh, compared with 35.7 TWh in 2011.
