Located between the Sleipner West and Sleipner East fields on the Volve field, the 15/9-1 and 15/9-1 A wells have been drilled to vertical depths of 3275m and 3185m below sea level, and total depths to 3577m and 3627m below sea level, respectively.

According to the company, the 15/9-1 and 15/9-1 A wells were concluded in the Smith Bank formation in Triassic and the Sleipner formation in Middle Jurassic, and are having water depth of 91m at the site.

The company expects to discover additional petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks in the northwestern part of the Volve field.

The has decided to drill sidetrack well 15/9-F-1 A as it encountered Smith Bank formation due to a fault in the rock, instead of more Hugin formation.

Smith Bank and Hugin formation are aquiferous, which are classified as dry, accordingly.
