An EPC option agreement has also been signed by Statoil with OneSubsea for subsea production system (SPS) including framework agreements for subsea operations services as well as subsea add-ons.

Statoil projects vice-president Torger Rød said: "In light of the current challenges the industry is facing the suppliers have demonstrated commitment and drive to break the cost curve and enhance competitiveness.

"Statoil has cooperated closely with the suppliers on technology qualification, concept development and pre-engineering studies, and jointly we have delivered successful subsea projects."

Statoil said that the agreements will form a basis for future collaboration while simplifying collaboration going forward.

Rød added: "The agreements constitute a framework upon which the suppliers can continue with optimization and cost reducing measures."

Separately, Statoil awarded contracts, which have a combined value of less than NOK 2.5bn, to Mitsui, Wasco Coatings Malaysia and Saipem.

The contracts have been awarded for the linepipe, coating and pipe installation of the Johan Sverdrup export pipelines.
