The company has designed the system by using parking canopy structure, which collects rainwater while protecting customers from the elements.

The two companies, which are working together since 2004, have jointly deployed 1.5Mw of solar projects.

SunEdison North America president Bob Powell said the company is looking forward to help Whole Foods Market and other commercial customers reduce their expenses and carbon footprint.

"Whole Foods Market is an exciting relationship because we are always being challenged to help them improve their business and innovate," Powell added.

Till date, SunEdison, which involved in the design and interconnection of around 550 commercial and utility scale sites worldwide, has raised over $5bn in capital to fund these solar installations.
