The company will undertake construction of the North Lake I Solar plant on previously disbursed land, owned by the Metropolitan Water District near the Diamond Valley Lake reservoir in western Riverside County.
SunEdison North America general manager Tim Derrick remarked that the City of Riverside is a leader among municipal utilities in the adoption of renewable energy.
RPU general manager David H. Wright added "Our partnership with SunEdison will enable us to deliver clean energy to our citizens at cost-effective rates while also enhancing reliability with peak-producing power."
Construction of the project is scheduled to commence in 2014 and is expected to be operational in 2015.
