Salmon group CEO Michael Matveishen said that this would be one of many steps being initiated for achieving growth while adding value for its shareholders.

The acquisition is expected to generate about $1.6m in revenue for the joint venture.

"We are very proud of the opportunity to assist the State of Hawaii in its green renewable energy goal of reducing their dependence on fossil fuel generated electricity," stated Matveishen.

Also, Avatar and Sunlogics will form a separate JV to develop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Hawaii, California, both in US and India and China.

Avatar-Sunlogics JV has a potential worth of $20m.
