According to the utility, the project will provide enough clean energy to power 36,000 households per annum.

Commenting on the agreement, SunPower regional president Howard Wenger said that the company will deploy high-efficiency technology to maximize solar energy for PG&E’s customers.

"We are very pleased to be working again with PG&E to deliver cost-competitive solar power at a 100 megawatt scale, while creating jobs and economic opportunity for the local community," said Wenger.

Construction at the Henrietta project is expected to commence in 2015, with commercial operation slated to begin by late 2016.

SunPower will install its 435w solar panels at the site, on approval from the California Public Utilities Commission.
