The solar tracking system utilizes the company’s solar panels with its T20 Tracker. The ground-mounted installation is located on two sites, Marble Bar and Nullagine in the east Pilbara region of Western Australia, and was commissioned earlier this year.

The system powers hybrid solar-diesel power stations, which will generate approximately 1,048MWh of solar energy per year and will produce 60% to 90% of daily electricity needs. This project is supported by the Australian Government through the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program and implemented by the Office of Energy in Western Australia.

SunPower said that its T20 Tracker increases sunlight capture by up to 30% over conventional fixed-tilt systems. The company has more than 550MW of solar power systems installed or under contract worldwide, including more than 200MW of operational power plants in Europe.
