Surry NPP’s Unit 1 was operating at 6% of capacity, Times-Dispatch reports citing figures provided by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

The unit was powered down last month for refueling, which is typically scheduled at 18-month intervals, and routine maintenance.

The Unit 2 of the Surry nuclear power plant remained at full power during the outage.

Dominion Virginia Power operates a total of four nuclear reactors in Virginia, including two each at Surry and North Anna, along Lake Anna in Louisa County, US.
