Under the MoU, Suzlon has agreed to develop 3,000MW of wind capacity between 2012 and 2016, entailing an investment of around Rs18,000Cr ($3.49bn).

The company, in cooperation with the Andhra Pradesh government, will secure necessary permission, registrations, approvals and clearance for the development of the wind farms.

The wind farms will be developed in the districts of Tallimadugula, Alankarayanipeta, Gandikota, Varjakarur, Tirumalayapalli and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Suzlon Group managing director Tulsi Tanti said the deal not only reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s position as one of the India’s emerging markets in wind energy, but also illustrates their commitment to power a low-carbon economy by embracing progressive policies to power rapidly growing economy of the state.
