Suzlon will provide 66 units of its S97-2.1MW turbines for the wind farm, which is currently under development located in the Eastern Cape Province.

If definitive agreements are reached, Suzlon will deliver the turbines under a full engineering, procurement and construction agreement.

Suzlon South Africa CEO Silas Zimu said the company aims to provide not only clean and green energy, but also to create many jobs.

"This venture shows how a South African Black empowered developer (Cennergi) partnered with a South African Black empowered manufacturer (Suzlon) can ensure that the Government’s commitments on wind energy are realized," Zimu said.

The project construction is expected to commence in the next year.

Cennergi is an equal joint venture between South Africa’s Exxaro Resources and The Tata Power Company.
