The acid-leach processing facility and associated plants will start processing ore and the mine is expected to produce 15 million pounds of uranium oxide a year.

President of Namibia Hifikepunye Pohamba said that the government will continue to support this project as one the major investments in the country.

Uranium is one of the natural resources that can contribute significantly to the social and economic development of the country, Pohamba added.

First batch of 11 haul trucks each with a capacity of 330 tons is ready for mining.

China General Nuclear holds a majority stake of 90% in the Husab project through its subsidiary Taurus Minerals. The remaining 10% is held by Namibian miner Epangelo.
