Currently under development, the two projects will have the capacity of 40MW AC.

To be operational by the end of 2014, both projects can produce clean electricity to power about 10,000 California households when fully operational.

In addition, Duke Energy also signed 20-year power purchase agreements to sell the power from both sites to Southern California Edison (SCE).

Duke Energy renewables president Greg Wolf said the power projects will more than double the company’s solar power capacity in California.

"We’re pleased to be working with Swinerton to provide an increasing supply of affordable, clean energy to the nation’s number one solar market," Wolf added.

Both the projects will together include a standalone 20MW AC photovoltaic facility and a new 115kV substation for interconnection to the grid.
