The program, which began on July 1, 2010, has been designed to provide the participating utility customers who turn in operating but energy inefficient refrigerators and freezers with a $35 incentive check for each qualifying appliance. A customer can dispose off a maximum of two units per year.

Tanner Electric will provide the incentive to offset the costs normally incurred while discarding an old refrigerator or freezer for a new and more energy efficient model.

Edward Cameron, president and CEO of ARCA, said: “We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide environmentally sound, turnkey appliance recycling services for Tanner Electric Cooperative and its members in Washington.

“This energy efficiency program will be the second appliance recycling program for which ARCA provides services in Washington.”
