The Gullfaks South oil and gas field in the northern part of the North Sea is situated around 190km from the Norwegian city of Bergen in water depths of 130m and 220m.

Under the contract, Technip will connect two manifolds back to the Gullfaks South field’s existing infrastructure using 20km of new flowlines and will work on this development based on the use of direct electrical heating and pipe-in-pipe flowline technology.

The oil field development project will further enhance Statoil’s initiatives on increased oil recovery.

Technip operating centre in Oslo, Norway will carry out the contract work and is expected to start the offshore construction work in the first half of 2014.

The company’s spoolbase in Orkanger will be responsible for fabrication of the flowlines whereas the offshore operations will be executed by its vessels from the fleet.
