The power plant, which will be built on the company’s existing plant site, is expected to commence operation in March 2015, according to The Star Online.

The project is subject to approvals from the Department of Environment (DOE) and the Energy Commission.

The Energy Commission chairman Ahmad Tajuddin Ali said that there is an urgency to finalize the project as there will be a power shortage in 2015.

TNB said that it will get the necessary DOE approval for environmental impact assessment and comply with all the requirements of clean air regulations, before the commencement of the power plant construction.
