Under the terms of $4.9m contract, the company will support construction of the Roy E. Hansel Substation, a $17.2m Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) gas insulated substation, which will replace KUA’s existing power plant substation constructed in the 1970s.

Terry’s Electric will also be responsible for demolition of the power plant substation and the work necessary to remove its existing transformers and subsequent re-installation at the utility’s Richard L. Hord Substation, located in Kissimmee, Florida, US.

Majority of the Hansel substation equipment and supporting equipment will be housed inside a building to minimize the visual impact, unlike the open-air design of the current substation.

The substation is expected to serve downtown Kissimmee and its business district

Established in 1901, KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 64,000 customers in Osceola County, US.
