According to media reports, Asda was the first to cut fuel prices by three pence per liter to 113.9 pence for petrol and 128.9 pence for diesel at its 285 forecourts. In response to the recent drop in the price of oil from $147 to $130, Morrisons has also announced the reduction of oil prices by four pence a liter at its forecourt stations.

Similarly, Sainbury’s has also announced a five pence per liter cut for customers who spend GBP50 or more in its shops. Previously, Tesco had announced a scheme similar to that of Sainbury’s.

Mark Gunter, Morrisons group store operations director, said: The cost of crude oil and refined product has fallen in the last few days and we are ensuring our customers reap the benefit by passing on the saving quickly, for cheaper prices at the pumps.
