TGS Eastern Hemisphere senior VP Stein Ove Isaksen said the compay is very happy to support oil and gas exploration in the Republic of Angola.

"Angola’s conjugate margin pre-salt basins, similar to hydrocarbon rich basins offshore Brazil, provide exciting new opportunities in petroleum exploration," he added.

The seismic data is being acquired by the M/V Geco Eagle, while the data processing will be performed by TGS, the company said.

It is expected that the preliminary data will be available from the fourth quarter of 2013.

TGS provides multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas exploration and production companies throughout the world.

It also offers advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, permanent reservoir monitoring and data integration solutions.
