The well, located approximately three miles northwest of the Karnes County border in Wilson County, reached a total targeted depth of 8,540ft and has been logged.
Johnson #4 penetrated the Austin Chalk, Eagle Ford, and Buda Formations, Torchlight said.
The company said this well is the first of a three-well program to test the Buda in the Marcelina Creek area and to earn a 75% interest in the block.
As many as 14 Buda and nine Eagle Ford wells can be drilled on the acreage.
