As part of its expansion plan, the company is now in the process of acquiring another 300 acres of land close to the Sugen plant.
According to the company, it will have a total gas-based generation capacity of approximately 6,000MW and coal-based capacity of 3,500MW.
Sudhir Mehta, chairman of Torrent Group, told Express India: “To meet the power demand in the country, we have set up the dream project. The power generated at Sugen will be distributed to Ahmedabad and Surat, and the surplus will be sold to other states.”
The company also plans to add one more unit to Sugen project taking its total capacity to 1,500MW and to further expand the capacity by 3,000MW in two phases.
