The key role of the new subsidiary is to develop transmission and distribution systems business in southeast Asia.
TTDA chairman Hiroyuki Mogi said the establishment of TTDA will further enhance Toshiba’s growth and strengthen its global market positioning.
"We are positioning TTDA as a global supply hub, responsible for the R&D and manufacture of medium voltage transmission & distribution products, with capabilities in engineering, procurement & construction of T&D systems that it can deploy across the region," Mogi said.
The new subsidiary will also promote expansion in solar photovoltaic power generation and smart grids.
