Under the contract, the consortium will supply a 2,000MW ultra-super-critical steam turbine and generators for Jimah coal-fired power generation project in Mukim Jimah in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

Toshiba will deliver and install two units of 1,000MW ultra-super-critical steam turbine and generators to provide high level energy efficiency as well as other main equipment such as plant control equipment, main transformers and the switch yard.

Toshiba will be responsible for the marine civil work, as part of the contract.

Earlier, Mitsui and 1MDB were selected to construct, own and operate the 2,000MW (1,000MW x 2 units) ultra-super-critical coal-fired power plant.

The power generated from the power plant will be sold to Malaysia’s national power utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad, under a power purchase agreement.

The project’s first unit is scheduled to commence commercial operation in 2018 while the second in 2019.
