This contract was won via a competitive solicitation, in which Total and SunPower beat out 13 other companies, which submitted over 20 bids in total.

SunPower and Total plan to meet their obligations under the contract by building a 164 MW solar power plant.

SunPower will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor, and will construct the plant using its modular Oasis Power Plant system.

The Oasis technology features robotic solar panel cleaning capability that uses 75%t less water compared to traditional cleaning methods. It helps in enhancing system performance by about 15%.

Colbún CEO Thomas Keller said: "This contract is a further step towards strategy optimizing our generation mix and strengthening our market position."

Colbún is the second largest generation company in Chile’s Central Interconnected System (SIC). It owns 24 plants across Chile and Peru, through which it delivers 3,852MW of the installed capacity.
