Under the contract, Toyo will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and commissioning of the gas separation unit, ethylene and polypropylene production units.

The company will partner with Hyundai Engineering, Hyundai Engineering & Construction and LG International Korea for the construction of the chemical complex.

Expected to be completed in 2018, the complex will produce ethylene, high density polyethylene, and polypropylene from natural gas produced on the Caspian Sea shelf.

Toyo’s Coreflux technology will be used to achieve effective recovery of ethane and LPG, while BASF’s OASE technology will be implemented for acid gas removal, for the gas separation unit.

Lummus’ technology will also be utilized for ethylene production, and W. R. Grace & Co for polypropylene.

Through the implementation of the project, Toyo will be contributing to Turkmenistan’s economic development by expanding its business further in Russia and CIS countries.

The complex will produced polymer products which will be exported and sold mainly in the Asia, EU and Turkish markets.
