The partnership includes the establishment of Toyota HV Call Center by TMC to help recover nickel-metal-hydride batteries and construction of recycling facilities for mass production in cooperation with Toyota Chemical Engineering.

The facilities will use Sumitomo Metal Mining’s nickel sorting and extraction technology to refine the nickel for use in batteries and leverage the support from Primearth with regard to the quality assurance in the manufacture of hybrid-vehicle nickel-metal-hydride batteries.

TMC, which plans to introduce this recycling system overseas, has established this business in Japan to accelerate the creation of a recycling-based society by utilizing new recovery and processing technologies to address the global resource limitations.
