The wind turbine blades to be supplied will be manufactured at TPI’s recently announced factory in Izmir, Turkey.

To be located on a 10 hectares site, the blades factory is expected to become operational later this year.

TPI Composites EMEA senior vice president Lars Moller said: "We look forward to providing cost-effective, high-quality wind blades to Vestas and its customers for the wind markets in Europe, Middle East, and Africa."

Vestas and TPI signed a similar deal in China a year earlier for Vestas’ V110 machine, SeeNews Renewables reported.

TPI Composites president and CEO Steve Lockard said: "We are excited that Vestas has chosen to expand its business relationship with TPI and outsource blade production in the EMEA region with TPI."

The company has been producing wind blades in Turkey since 2012, and is currently producing blades there for GE and Nordex.

Said to be the largest US-based independent manufacturer of composite wind blades for wind energy market, TPI operates factories across the US, Mexico, China and Turkey.

The company also provides structural composite products to the transportation market. It delivers quality, cost effective composite solutions through long term relationships with leading wind turbine manufacturers.

To date Vestas installed more than 55,000 wind turbines, which generate clean electricity and reduce carbon emissions by over 60 million tons of carbon dioxide every year.
