The grant of these three exploration licenses represents TPL’s first granted coal tenure in its 100% owned Lightjack Hill Coal Project within the Canning Basin.

The granted tenure includes over 100km of strike of the coal prospective Lightjack Formation comprising outcrop and areas under shallow surficial cover, and approximately 30km along strike from historical drill holes with coal seam intercepts.

It also includes highly prospective ground containing the main known host sequences for coal measures within the Fitzroy Graben, Canning Basin. It lies within the Fitzroy River Valley where erosional regime offers good exposure to potential coal bearing sediments, the company said.

Mark Gunther, managing director of TPL, said: “The grant of our first tenements within the highly prospective Lightjack Hill Coal Project represents a significant milestone for TPL. TPL will commence on ground exploration activities later this month, and work on obtaining required approvals and clearances before commencing a maiden coal drilling program.”
