The plant, which is located near Dwarka in the district of Jamnagar, is fully operational since January 2012,

TPREL has been selected as the preferred bidder in a process conducted by AES for the sale of the wind farm.

The project has executed a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam for sale of the electricity at a tariff of INR3.56 per unit. It is also entitled for carbon credits under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said that the company is committed to generating 20-25% of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources and is proud to have signed this share purchase agreement to acquire 39.2MW operational wind farm.

"The project is a clean energy project, which will enhance and increase company’s clean energy footprint," Sardana added.

"This is our second acquisition of an operating wind asset and we are in constant look out for similar opportunities in respect of wind and solar plants."

With this deal, Tata Power’s wind operational generation capacity will go up to 437MW.
