he project will be executed by an integrated, multidisciplinary team from Tractebel in Brazil, France and Peru. They will perform the studies for the deployment of the Mantaro Hydroelectric Complex Maintenance Plan (1008 MW). This collaborative effort will gather 25 Tractebel specialists from across the globe to share their expertise.

The Mantaro Hydroelectric Complex was established over 40 years ago and is located between the provinces of Huancavelica and Huncayo in Central Peru. It is Peru’s main power generation centre and is composed of the hydroelectric plants of Santiago Antunez de Mayolo and Restitucion.

The study will evaluate the viability of the Mantaro Complex Modernization in order to optimize its integration into the National Interconnected Electrical System. The aim of this project is to maintain Mantaro as the main electric power generator in Peru as well as to ensure the medium and long term operational sustainability of the plant.

According to Walter Chavez, General Manager of Tractebel in Peru, "this project is very important for the company, as it will allow us to further our objective of consolidating our position in this region and to increase our market share, as well as developing one of the most iconic Peruvian projects in this sector".

The client for this project is Electroperu, the most important electric power generation company in Peru, and the estimated duration of the operations is 20 months.
