Planned to be built by the company’s new subsidiary, Trina Solar Science & Technology (Thailand), the facility will produce 500MW of photovoltaic modules and 700MW of cells annually.

The facility is scheduled to commence operations by early 2016. It will allow Trina Solar to expand its existing manufacturing capacity to meet increasing demand from its key and emerging markets.

Trina Solar module business unit president and COO Zhiguo Zhu said: "Thailand is an ideal location for us to build a new manufacturing base due to its proximity to key emerging markets in the Asia Pacific region as well as its favorable investment environment in terms of land acquisition and labor costs.

"Besides, Thailand is also a particularly attractive PV market given its sunny environment, long-term PV subsidies, and favorable government policies towards the solar sector.
