The wind farm which will comprise 90 turbines, will be located adjacent to TrustPower’s 100MW Snowtown Wind Farm, with which Origin holds an existing power purchase agreement.
TrustPower chief executive Vince Hawksworth said, "TrustPower is delighted to have reached agreement with Origin, which represents a significant milestone for the Snowtown II project."
Origin will secure 100% of the output and renewable energy certificates from the wind farm.
Construction is expected to commence in late 2012 and the facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2014.
