The proposed farm will employ 90 gearless Siemens wind turbines of which 48 are currently operations.

According to the company the farm when complete, will be South Australia’s biggest wind farm enlisting an investment of $465m.

The stage 2 farm is located 7km north-east of the city and will bring will bring TrustPower’s total investment in the Snowtown wind farm to over $700m.

The company currently owns and operates 36 small to medium size hydro generating stations in New Zealand alongside two wind farms that produce electricity from renewable sources enough to power 220,000 households.
