The project is executed by Stroytransgaz PJSC.

Most of the Turkmenistan section of the pipeline Malay – Bagtyyarlyk passes through the Karakum desert, Turkmengaz said. The most difficult section of construction was the construction of an underground passage across the Amudarya river, which was carried out for the first time.

The pipeline will transport around 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China for 30 years annually.

The official commissioning of the pipeline is planned for mid-December 2009.

Currently, gas workers are preparing for the pipeline testing.
