The wind energy component accounted for 11.45% of the total energy demand for the country.

Daily wind power generation also touched the highest ever recorded levels thrice in the month, topping at 4,564MW generated on 20 November.

Commenting on the developments RenewableUK chief executive Maria McCaffery said that the previous month also highlighted the importance of wind energy to UK’s energy mix while providing a number of economic and environmental benefits.

"The UK really needs these benefits, but to protect that growth we need to make sure the policy agenda is right – for large wind via the Energy Bill and, for small and medium wind, by ensuring that the feed-in tariff isn’t restricted through onerous degression thresholds," cautioned McCaffery.

Funding for wind energy developers across the country also increased with a total of £500m disbursed by a number of banks and agencies.
