Bowie said: “Although we are now seeing recycling performances of 35 per cent and much higher, there’s still a lot of organic waste in the residual stream, which can be reprocessed.

“If this stream is run through an IVC we can get the benefit of recycling and at the same time reduce the vast amount of waste sent to landfill.

“We hope our new facility will prove that IVCs have an integral role in ensuring Scotland meets its waste diversion and recycling targets.”
