The Susquehanna nuclear facility situated in Luzerne County about seven miles north of Berwick, in Pennsylvania is co-owned by PPL Susquehanna and Allegheny Electric Cooperative.

The facility is operated by PPL Susquehanna.

During the outage, the operators at the plant reconnected the unit to the regional electric grid after completing improvements to address the turbine issues experienced at the plant for many years now.

PPL Susquehanna senior vice president and chief nuclear officer Timothy S Rausch said, "We will continue to monitor the performance of the turbines on both units over the next few years to confirm the modifications are working as designed."

The unit 2 reactor at the plant returned to service on 5 June, after it was temporarily shut down for scheduled refueling and maintenance outage.
