The UNO Research and Technology Foundation will use the fund to develop water quality improvement projects, which will focus on the reduction or elimination of sewage related pollution and provide education and outreach to local residents.
Included in these projects is water quality monitoring to determine the health of water within the Lake Pontchartrain watershed and protection of an interior shoreline marsh to address the problem of migrating oil.
The UNO Research and Technology Foundation will also focus on additional projects, including the analysis and design of coastal shoreline protections against erosion.
