Full-scale production at the mine is likely to begin in 2017.

CGNPC is investing $2bn towards the development of the Husab mine, which is expected have the highest-grade uranium deposit in Namibia, and the fourth largest in the world, reported APA.

The mine is capable of producing about 6 800 tones uranium oxide per year, including the combined production from the Rössing Uranium and Langer Heinrich mines.

During the industry report to the Namibia Chamber of Mines annual general meeting in Windhoek, Rössing Uranium managing director Werner Duvenhage said that the construction work of the multibillion-dollar mine is on track.

CGNPC will be holding 90% stake in the mine, while the remaining 10% will belong to Namibia’s government mining entity, Epangelo Mining Company.
