According to the Turkmen Dowlet Habarlar Gullugy news agency, the reservoir, which will have a capacity of 600,000m3, has been designed by the Turkmensuvytaslama institute. The general contractor is the Karakumgurlushyk production association.

The main purpose of the reservoir will be to irrigate surrounding farmland during the spring and summer seasons. The reservoir and dam will cost a total of US$2.88M.
