This represents the highest Q3 level since 1999. Production during the third quarter, however, decreased 16% compared to the second quarter of 2013, which saw a production of 1,394,232 lb. The third quarter production was 2% higher than the first-quarter amount.

For the first nine months of 2013, US uranium concentrate production increased 16% to 3,712,541lb, a compared to 3,187,711lb produced in the first nine months of 2012. It is the highest first-three-quarters production level since 1997, when 4,101,513 lb was produced, according to the report.

The agency expects the US reactors’ uranium demand to total 50 million lb in 2013.
