The solar power system, which has a 20-year life period, will produce power for the camp to light its offices, an ablution block, a restaurant and camping locations.

Solarhart Botswana’s manager of renewable energy, Robby Mogwe said the system they installed has the capability to operate for five days without direct sunlight.

Mogwe said some staff members at the camp were given basic training on how to manage and take care of the solar panel and its components by Solahart Botswana.

Nolan said the project would have a main impact in the development of the community.

This project will work towards the protection and preservation of nature for the generation to come in the next century and beyond, Nolan said.

Our environment is very important to us and we should be managing it properly.

We need to treat our environment like a treasure so that it can provide jobs for us as the diamond industry is not performing well at the moment, Gabaake said.
